Refers to services that remove or modify skin tissue.

  • Cryosurgery (cryotherapy):  to remove by liquid nitrogen freezing.
    • for the treatment of:
      • actinic keratoses (pre-cancers)
      • seborrheic keratoses
      • warts
  • Biopsies and minor surgical procedures:  to remove a small piece of skin under local anesthesia to be examined under a microscope in order to make the most accurate diagnosis.
    • for the diagnosis and/or treatment of:
      • moles
      • skin cancers
      • skin tags
      • warts
  • Excisions:  to completely remove a skin lesion by surgery under local anesthesia with a suture or sutureless closure.  Excised tissue is always sent to the laboratory to be examined under a microscope.
    • for the diagnosis and/or treatment of benign or malignant lesions including:
      • basal cell carcinoma
      • cysts
      • fatty tumors
      • moles
      • melanoma
      • melanoma in situ
      • squamous cell carcinoma
